This extraordinary showcase is the first-ever museum exhibition worldwide dedicated to the iconic Song Huai-Kuei, a highly esteemed figure in Chinese art, film, music, and fashion during the period spanning from the 1980s to the 2000s. The exhibition provides insight into Madame Song’s captivating array of identities and professional endeavors. It showcases an impressive collection of over 320 items, encompassing rare archival materials, exquisite garments crafted by renowned fashion designers, movie costumes and footage, artworks, as well as grand tapestry installations. The exhibition meticulously traces Song’s life and artistic contributions from the 1950s until the early years of the new millennium. Moreover, it unveils Song’s previously overlooked and underestimated impact on China’s transformation during its Reform and Opening-up era in the 1980s—a pivotal time that propelled China towards becoming today’s cosmopolitan society with rich cultural diversity.
