Kowloon Park|Introduction

During the 1830s, Victoria Harbour emerged as a favored anchorage spot for Westerners. Meanwhile, the area that would later become Kowloon Park served as a significant military base overlooking the harbor. In 1861, the British took control of the Kowloon peninsula and designated the base as Whitfield Barracks.

Kowloon Park was officially opened on June 24, 1970, by Sir David Trench, the then Governor. In 1989, the park underwent redevelopment, funded by the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club at a cost of $300 million.

Covering a total area of 13.3 hectares, Kowloon Park offers a wide range of recreational facilities for public use. Due to factors such as topography and site limitations, the northern part of the park is dedicated to active recreational activities, while the southern area focuses on passive amenities.
