Victoria Park New Year Stall Bidding Prices Plummet

In the 2024 Victoria Park New Year Market, 387 stalls including fast food, wet goods, and dry goods are up for bidding. Compared to 2019, the starting prices for all types of stalls have significantly dropped, with fast food stall prices decreasing by 40% to 68%.

The lowest bid for four fast-food stalls was HK$120,470, far below HK$200,780 in 2019. Wet goods and dry goods stalls also saw a decrease to HK$6,530 and HK$8,540, respectively. The most expensive fast-food stall was sold for HK$220,000, while two cheaper stalls went for HK$180,000 each.

New regulations limit stall height: The Senior Director of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Hui So-Hing, stated that this year’s New Year Market has introduced new regulations limiting stall height to 4.5 meters. If a stall exceeds 3 meters, a qualified person must submit a structural safety certificate.
