One of these activities involves inviting Taoist priests to recite sacred scriptures, seeking divine intervention and offering prayers for prosperity and well-being.
In addition to religious rituals, the association arranges vibrant festivities that add joy and excitement to the celebrations. A grand parade featuring colorful floats and traditional lion dance performances further enlivens the atmosphere during this festive occasion.

Back in the old days, Shau Kei Wan used to be a thriving harbor where fishermen settled. In the late 1940s, many people from mainland China moved to Hong Kong and made Shau Kei Wan their home.
The Cheung Fei Temple that still stands today was built in 1982, thanks to the joint effort of the local residents in Shau Kei Wan. Nearby, you’ll find the Kwan Tai Temple and Lau Bei Temple, which were built in 1976 and 1983 respectively. These temples are dedicated to the legendary trio of Lau Bei, Kwan Yu, and Cheung Fei, who were sworn brothers during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD). They serve as a symbol of unity for the Shau Kei Wan community, just like the unbreakable bond between Lau, Kwan, and Cheung.
The day-to-day operations of the Cheung Fei Temple are mainly managed by the South An Fang Association in Shau Kei Wan. In addition, every year on the 19th day of the twelfth lunar month, the association organizes a procession to celebrate Cheung Fei’s birthday and seek blessings for the community, warding off any evil spirits that may come their way.
